We are based in Austin, TX and looking to setup an Offshore Development Center in India as we seek smart engineers on both sides of the planet.
Position Location: Chennai, India
Summary of Position:
We are looking for smart, well-articulated, driven individuals who see new challenges as opportunities and not as hurdles. You are motivated by challenging tasks and are determined to drive projects assigned to you to successful ends. You excel at understanding complex systems and being able to connect dots together when analyzing problems. You take pride in being part of a product of very high quality and can think not just like a customer using the product would, but also like someone trying to mess with it. If a pacy work environment where you can hope to learn something new and exciting every day, and work with driven individuals just like you, is something that you seek as a refuge from a dour 9-5 job, that is exactly the kind of place we want to create.
Primary responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to:
- Understanding requirements and how they should be used to certify the delivered product/feature.
- Understanding wire-frames and user-experience design and ensuring that the user interface delivered matches the expectations of uniform look-and-feel and intuitive usability.
- Developing detailed test plans with test cases after interacting with other engineers to understand the changes being made and the targets meant to be achieved.
- Working with other engineers in an Agile development process.
- Black-box testing from the customer’s point-of-view with different user roles considered.
- White-box testing to ensure the system is reliable and scalable.
- Regression testing to build confidence in the final delivered product.
- Identifying and helping develop automated tests for important, repeatable use-cases.
- Working with the Austin-based engineers to help with any quality assurance related tasks they need help with from time to time.
Basic skill-set expected to be useful for this position includes:
- Working knowledge of Linux and shell-scripting along with a working knowledge of Windows.
- Working knowledge of SQL and being able to inspect database-states to understand problems and locate symptoms.
- Ability to create test plans based on requirements, functional specs, designs.
- Ability to write effective defects (concise, accurate, neutral, isolated, steps, impact, evidence, debugging)
- Beginner-level expertise on at least one common object-oriented programming language (Java, Ruby, Python, C++, C#, etc.)
- Understanding of test lifecycle (unit test, functional, scenario, scale, performance, load)
- Firm understanding of browser-based applications (HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, and AJAX)
- Troubleshooting skills to isolate a problem down to which part of the system is the likely culprit.
- White-box testing
- Strong desire to satisfy the customer’s expectations of the software
Work Experience:
Ideally, you would have at least 4 years of work experience with enterprise level solutions, but there could be an exception if you can prove you are mature beyond your years. You would have developed automated test suites and at the same time have displayed adeptness at breaking down functional requirements and design documents into the minutest of details to prepare a test plan from it.
Remuneration:
Commensurate with work experience.
