Proactive “litigation readiness” is a strategic goal for a growing number of today’s corporations. They understand the critical importance of being able to produce the right information at the right time—and the possible sanctions if they fail to do so.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness is an enterprise-class, software-based appliance designed specifically for proactive eDiscovery and litigation preparedness. Unlike traditional records management systems or generic enterprise search solutions, StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness helps organizations to make appropriate decisions before litigation about the retention, deletion, and security of their unstructured data. With a good records management system in place, they are better prepared to respond to litigation while adhering to regulatory compliance and corporate information governance policies.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness can be rapidly deployed onsite—only space, network access and power are required. In fact, the typical appliance implementation takes an hour from mounting the appliance to initiating the first scan.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness is a non-intrusive network appliance, with no desktop agent installation and no disruption to end users during deployment and operation.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness can help accelerate understanding with a powerful engine for classification and policy implementation. An intuitive web interface allows users to easily create and define linguistically enabled custom classification lexicons or choose from over 50 out-of-the-box lexicons. Users can select combinations of metadata, natural-language derived concepts and facts, other natural language expressions, alphanumeric patterns, and keywords, all combined with context-based proximity and scoping technologies.
Implementation policies are based on these classifications. Policies can be defined to associate an appropriate action (such as retain or secure) and apply it to positively identified and classified objects. Policies are symmetrically scaled across the StoredIQ platform to improve performance and scalability. Deep policy auditing at the individual item level is also supported.
Data topology mapping is an extremely powerful method to analyze your ESI. These reports expedite identifying target custodians and data prior to collection and preservation, helping the legal team preserve the “right” amount of ESI without under or over preserving. These reports are also valuable negotiation tools for “meet & confer” conferences.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness can profile your active ESI according to your scan criteria, creating an auditable data topology map. This map shows the locations of active ESI in locations such as network services, email servers, content management systems, storage systems and PCs.
Using the linguistically enabled classification function provided by StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness, users can identify content that does not comply with corporate governance policies and ensure these situations are addressed before they become legal issues. Out-of-the-box privacy classifications pinpoint personally identifiable content, so users can easily define security or migration policies that address the increasing demand of state and federal privacy laws.
Backed by industry-leading speed and performance, StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness delivers the functionalities that organizations need for true “litigation preparedness” and support for compliance efforts.
Records ManagementIn a clustered configuration with distributed capabilities, StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness products ensure that organizations have the reach they need for a thorough inventory. Users can search for information that is increasingly distributed in file servers and NAS devices across multiple locations and networks. Approximately 300 different file types can be recognized while accessing multiple volumes simultaneously and managing hundreds of millions of objects, at great speed.
StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness comes equipped with comprehensive lexicons of content entities, developed in conjunction with industry experts and supporting industries such as health care and financial services. Users can easily extend the vocabulary of the system with custom classifications and create a rich semantic vocabulary that is designed for the needs of the organization.
The policy editor in StoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness enables users to define business policies that associate the appropriate actions to be applied to positively identified and classified objects. Users can also identify and delete business records that fall outside of the company’s record retention policy and are not subject to litigation hold.
With the patent-pending classification editor, risk management teams can encode rules that identify risk that has led to previous legal matters and activate policies to ensure proper notification. The product provides 18 dimensions of individually identifiable information, such as social security or credit card numbers, that can be enabled and associated with secure or migrate policies to ensure automated remediation. The product’s security policies can update or replace system access control lists to ensure only authorized personnel have access to secure or confidential business data.
Storage ManagementStoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness provides deep integration into file systems and NAS devices that communicate using CIFS, NFS and Netware protocols. It also features a comprehensive storage management dashboard that articulates storage utilization by owner, duplicate, activity, age, location, type and category enabling you to easily create system meta-data based classifications for use in security and migration policies.
The product has both active and passive Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) policy support with active integration into both NetApps Fpolicy and EMC File Mover interfaces. HSM policies can be defined to use EMC’s Centera, NetApp Snaplock or any NFS/CIFS share as the secondary storage target.
The product’s active HSM interfaces are high scaleable and available as they execute across a StoredIQ distributed cluster architecture.
eDiscoveryStoredIQ eDiscovery Preparedness identifies, collects and preserves active ESI on network servers, storage systems and personal computers—without disrupting end users. What’s more, the product enables a legal team to cull down potentially responsive data using system, object metadata and content filtering. It also produces review ready output of native files with Concordance or standards-based XML load files.
