Define and automate corporate polices for eDiscovery, Records Management, and Information Governance
StoredIQ can assert control over vast amounts of unstructured data by automating a variety of actions, or policies, against data objects within an enterprise. Policies can be applied to address a variety of requirements including governance or compliance-driven records management obligations, eDiscovery legal hold requests, or storage optimization.
During execution, the StoredIQ policy engine identifies all data objects that meet the criteria of a certain query or tag and performs the directed action upon them. Some of the available actions include:
- Copy - Copy data objects, with incremental copy support.
- Move - Move data objects with the option to leave behind Windows shortcuts and UNIX symbolic links to support an HSM strategy.
- Delete - Delete data objects from one or more volumes.
- Modify security - Modify security attributes, such as access permissions, of data objects.
- Litigation hold and retention period designations - For servers that are designated as retention servers, set the litigation hold and retention period attributes during moves, copies, and update actions.
- Discovery Export - Creation of review-ready load files for import into any popular litigation review tools.
- Configure HSM - Automate storage management by moving old or inactive data from expensive primary storage to less expensive secondary storage locations.
Policies can be performed across the enterprise irrespective of data source, and can be automated, executed on-demand, or scheduled on a recurring basis. The StoredIQ Policy Engine is designed to work in dynamic environments; policies are stateful, and can be configured to execute incrementally on only new or modified objects, ignoring unchanged data previously indexed and classified. This is particularly crucial for copy and discovery export actions.
Key Highlights:
- Policies can be created and executed automatically to meet eDiscovery legal hold or information governance requirements
- Policy actions supported include copy, move, modify access attributes, delete, set litigation hold, update retention attributes, discovery export and HSM support
- Stateful policies allow subsequent actions performed to only process incremental data changes
- Policies are 100% auditable
